Tourism is the biggest and fast growing industry in the world. It is estimated that tourism sector in Nepal produces twice the number of job created in other combined service and industrial sector. And its multiplier effect in the economy is four times higher than industrial sector. Tourism growth in Nepal used to be in average 10% every year. In recent years the growth has been dampened due to internal unstable political condition. Tourism is a sensitive industry. It is affected by any small event that happens near and far. But anywhere in the world it is always a temporary phase. The arrival figure is bound to jump again. For Nepal tourism is an integral part of tile growth of its economy beside hydro power.

Travel and Tourism are two sides of the same coin. It is a specialize subject that deals with holiday. The range of subject that holiday covers is very much bigger than Hotel Management. The subject includes holiday planning, airlines, tour operating, marketing, holiday destination, natural and environment issues, culture, transportation, customer relationship, immigration, airport management, leisure and business travel, National Government organization, and sports.

The Travel & Tourism course teaches skills in management of all the above aspects of tourism. It enhances your ability to work on wide variety of issues related with travel and tourism. After two years of the preparatory course you will be able to move higher to diploma or graduate level that can put you straight to first level in management or supervisory level in tourism organization, Tourism organization can be a travel agency, a tour or trek operating companies, or a national tourism organization like Nepal Tourism Board.

The course of study includes theory and practical. First year of the course prepare you to understand about tourism and its development in Nepalese context. It gives knowledge and concept about national and international tourism organization, travel organizations that deals with air transportation, trekking, rafting, etc. The course gives you information about Nepal tourism potential, its impact on the economy, environment and culture. Tile course includes skill to develop product. Field visit and report writing about the destination and tourism products has been given special emphasis. The second part of the course includes operation aspects. It teaches you to plan travel, itinerary, cost and logistics. Airfare construction method according to IATA procedure and rules are taught in 2nd year.

Beside the core subject you will take Economics, Business Studies and Account as other additional subjects. You can also take Travel & Tourism without choosing Eco, Business and Account. We have chosen these subjects to enhance your Travel & Tourism management knowledge. Business Studies provides knowledge about the business organization and office that help you learn about necessary skills required to run an organization, Account is another subject that is essential; it can help in understanding all the financial transactions of a business organization. Economics is other subject that gives you an option to study BBS (Bachelor of Business Science) at graduate level; moreover knowledge of economics would be helpful in understanding the impact of other factors in tourism economy

Travel & Tourism course is based on the course of studies prepared by HMG, Higher Secondary Education Board. It is a vocational course that gives you foundation in your career in tourism management. It is an investment that will give you many times more return in your future,. After completion of this course you will be able to start your own business. It is also possible to take up job in tourism organization, travel and tour operating agencies, and in leisure business establishment. After completion of this course it will give you head start in graduation or diploma course on Tourism Management, in Nepal, India or abroad. The successful completion puts you in win win situation.
